The Boarding School Environment & Boarding School Experience at Oxford

By Helen H. Waldron, M.Ed

The Oxford Academy is an academically rigorous learning environment where students are challenged to think critically and engage with complex ideas with a fully customized course of study taught one to one. One teacher, one student, and powerful learning. The boarding side of life in the best boarding schools in CT promotes close relationships between faculty and students, and between students and their peers. Students engage in a Character and Leadership learning to develop socially and emotionally each week.  As boarders, students learn to live and work together, resolve conflicts, and support one another. They also explore new interests and affinities while developing a strong sense of community. The Oxford Academy experience helps prepare students for the challenges of college and beyond. This environment fosters intellectual growth, personal development, and lifelong friendships.
