Whether boarding or a day student, Oxford’s program of individualized instruction and seminar courses benefit learners with many goals.

Enjoy High Tides and Great Vibes

HORSEBACK-RIDING LESSONS: Lessons will take place at the Westbrook Hunt Club.

SAILING LESSONS: Sailing lessons take place three days a week at a local marina. They will be taught basic sailing, navigation, racing techniques, and various tactics on a Colgate 26 sailboat. Students of varying abilities are welcome.

*There is an additional fee for these activities.

Through dormitory life, meals in the dining hall, weekend trips and activities, or extra-curricular programs, students build lasting friendships and develop important life skills in a close-knit and welcoming community.

1:1 ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT

Summer Experience, Oxford Academy In the Oxford classroom, no one size fits all, and no kid slips under the radar. Our students are bright and thrive in a kind, forgiving environment with one-to-one teaching where they learn to think for themselves in the following (non-credit) course offerings:

  • English Literature and Composition
  • Mathematics (Pre-Algebra through Calculus)
  • Core Social Studies and Electives
  • Biology, Chemistry, and Electives
  • Spanish and Latin

SUMMER COLLEGE SEARCH
Rising juniors or seniors will spend the summer:
  • Creating a college list
  • Developing the personal essay
  • Beginning work on the Common Application

CREDIT RECOVERY

SEMINAR COURSES (½ credit) – Earn half credit in a group setting of no more than six while focusing on enrichment and critical thinking in the following subjects:

  • English
  • Pre -AP: English, Calculus, Geography & History
  • Robotics
  • Forensics
  • Marine Biology
  • Social Studies

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
  English as a Second Language are one-to-one daily English classes at the intermediate to advanced level. Students will work on the following skills:
  • Writing
  • Reading comprehension
  • Oral expression skills
  • TOEFL Prep

SKILL BUILDING
Student Orientation offers executive skills coaching and study skills instruction. Which includes:
  • organization
  • time management
  • summarizing
  • note-taking
  • test preparation
  • writing
