Beyond Academics

All-School Traditions

Here at Oxford, we believe that having fun together is important to relationship building and becoming truly invested in the community.

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest has become an anticipated autumnal event at Oxford. All activities take place outside and give students and faculty a chance to take a short reprieve from academics to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather and each other. Dorms compete with each other in events such as pumpkin carving, egg toss and relay races. The day culminates with dinner prepared and served by Chef Dave in the outdoor pavilion.

Maple Sugaring

In 2012 Oxford’s launched its annual Maple Sugaring program. The Science Department and student volunteers study the production and health of the 40+ trees that make up Oxford’s sugar bush on campus. Since then, donations from the annual fund afforded Oxford to build a new structure for this project called the Sugar Shack!

Light on Westbrook

Light on Westbrook, is our annual photography exhibition and prize drawing open to the public. Local amateur photographers submit photographs surrounding the theme of light. All entries are professionally judged. All proceeds support the Westbrook Public Schools Meal Project.

100 Nights Celebration

Every year, Oxford celebrates our soon-to-be graduates at the annual 100-Nights until graduation dinner. After being roasted by Mr. LaSota and toasted by Mrs. Neale, graduates were officially inducted into the Alumni Association by Joe Dattilo ’93, Trustee. Oxford also presents the J. Bradley Allen ’13 Leadership Award to one senior for his outstanding leadership while at Oxford.

Annual International Trip: Italy

Every year, Mr. Pachniuk coordinates an 8-day international trip to a different historically fascinating city. This interdisciplinary trip enables our faculty and students to become world travelers while challenging their knowledge of languages, history, art, and science. In recent years, the group has journeyed to France, Italy, Germany, and Iceland!

Annual Trip to Provincetown

To kick off the final term of the year, faculty and their families and students head to Provincetown for Oxford’s annual interdisciplinary trip to Cape Cod. The group explores the tidal flats, enjoys whale watching, and visits the historic Pilgrim Monument.

Fruit Ball

At the conclusion of fall season students take part in a game of Fruit Ball to destroy rotting pumpkins and left over fruit and veggies. Good times!

Rock Paper Scissors Tournament

Every winter, Oxford declares a winner of our all-school Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. Two players each matched up to battle in a series of best out of three contests, to reveal a representative from both the faculty and students teams. By the end, there is only one person who triumphs over the rest of the community.
