Major Gifts from the Annual Fund

Tennis Courts Renovated

One of the larger gifts to Oxford, made by an alumnus, was to renovate the tennis courts and update them for pickle ball. New stone seating was provided along with a covered pavilion and tables. Students and faculty enjoy this great new upgrade daily and it provides viewing space for all the home tennis matches.

New Outdoor DiningPavilion Added

An Oxford family and an alumnus generously gave funds to improve the outdoor dining hall patio and convert it into a covered pavilion complete with fireplace and new outdoor furniture. This area is used daily by students, faculty and staff and has become a new gathering place on campus.

Let the Sun Shine In! Oxford Academy has Solar Panels!

Thanks to a generous donation from a friend of Oxford Academy, the School is harnessing the energy of the sun with approximately 200 solar panels installed on the roof of the gymnasium. The panels help the campus reduce our electricity bill significantly and make us eligible for ZRECs that represent the “green attributes” of one megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated from solar energy. These accumulate over a year and their value under the CT program is paid to Oxford quarterly from the electric company at a fixed rate for a pre-specified number of years. The amount of clean energy produced from this solar system would be equivalent to planting 1,510 trees each year. Over the 30-year life of the system, this would amount to planting 45,300 trees!

Gym Renovation

Thanks to a very generous donation from a friend of Oxford, the gym is now air-conditioned, has a lighting upgrade, and has received a fresh coat of paint on the walls and floor. This was an unexpected but much needed improvement in an area of the CT boarding school used by all the boys daily! We are all very appreciative of the upgrade!
